Peled (Hadad), David
Born in Haifa, Egypt, in 1945, David moved with his family to Alexandria, where he began his elementary studies in 1952. In 1952, the family immigrated to Israel and lived in the Gilot transit camp near Herzliya. David studied at the Weizmann elementary school, and after graduating began working as a mechanic, and he worked as a carpenter in a mattress factory, and David worked in the army in mid-February 1959 and volunteered for the army The armor. After basic training, he was trained as a tank gunner. The period of his regular service was passed without special events, and he fulfilled his duties to the satisfaction of his commanders. At the beginning of August 1961, David was released from regular service and returned to work as a car mechanic. In 1965, he married a wife. For a while, he and his wife lived in Tel Aviv, and then returned to Herzliya. The couple had two sons and a daughter. David also served in the Armored Corps and took part in the Six-Day War and the Yom Kippur War. In 1975, he was hired for IAI. David passed through the battles of the Peace for Galilee war. However, on the 15th of Adar 2, 5744 (March 19, 1984), Sergeant David fell in the line of duty in the Peace for Galilee War and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Herzliya. He left behind a wife, two sons and a daughter, two brothers and two sisters. In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “The symbol of David was a model soldier with a temperament, his commanders and his friends knew that he could be relied on … he stood up at all times with the understanding that the burden of Israel’s security should be weighed.” In his memory and his life story were presented in “The Boys Book – Bnei Herzliya”
