Peer, Ilan
Son of Moshe and Rebecca, may God rest her soul. He was born on February 13, 1956, in Tzur Shalom in Kiryat Bialik. He attended the Tzur Shalom elementary school, the industrial school in Haifa and the Hadassah Neurim school in Kfar Vitkin. At an early age Ilan was a magnet for his friends. Stood out in his great energy and everyone trusted him. He was cheerful and friendly and often acted as the living spirit at parties and celebrations held in the neighborhood. For a certain period of time, Ilan played the accordion and discovered talent. Within the framework of the Neurim College, he found a suitable combination of study and work. Ilan’s great passion for wheel and wheel, his quick grasp and technical control of various tools led him to join a pre-military course for the operation of heavy mechanical equipment. In this field Ilan dealt with the entire length of his military service. Ilan was drafted into the IDF in November 1972. After completing basic training in the engineering corps, he worked as a trainer, carried out various projects within the framework of the IAF, and underwent several courses, including a sabotage course and a parachuting course. Towards the end of his service Ilan decided to sign for service in the permanent army. During his service he was responsible for the implementation of an important project in the Golan Heights: a security breakthrough (later named after him: Ma’aleh Ilan). He was an example of his friends, his temperament, his energy and his agility. On the 17th of Elul 5737 (March 31, 1977), while he was responsible for a security breach in Lebanese territory, he was hit and killed by shrapnel from a terrorist shell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. A father and brother left behind him. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, a chief engineering officer wrote: “It was a great privilege for me to be the commander of the corps whose son, Ilan, was among his ranks. Ilan was known as an outstanding soldier and as a dedicated commander to his subordinates. He excelled at a high professional level and invested all his energies in carrying out the tasks and tasks he was entrusted with. “His family published a booklet in his memory.
