Pasternak, Issachar


Son of Malka and Shlomo Zalman was born on February 14, 1928 in Poland, and in 1935 immigrated to Israel with his parents who settled in Ra’anana, and at the age of nine he was attracted to the Mahanot Ha’olim youth movement. And the vocational school in Yagur, and later went on to train in the Palmach. During the War of Independence, he served in one of the “Yiftach” Brigade companies. In anticipation of the expected invasion of Lebanon, the Yiftach fighters seized Kadesh and Malkia in order to block the route of the invasion of the Galilee. The enemy forces attacked with great force, and in this battle he fell on the fifteenth of Iyar 5708 (May 15, 1948) and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Maoz Haim
