The father found his poor livelihood by fishing in the Sea of Galilee and because of the difficult financial situation at home, Yosef joined his father and his brother in fishing and spent days and nights in the boat when his peers went to school. Even when he grew up a little and became a fisherman in his own right he continued the hard work and his salary brought home. Yosef enlisted in the IDF in mid-November 1966 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, and after completing basic training, he had a strong desire to serve and to contribute his part to the defense of his homeland, but despite his lack of education, His commander “tried very hard to fulfill his role in the best possible way.” Joseph was endowed with great strength, which he invested in every job and helped weaker soldiers, but he did not have the strength to fight against the malignant disease that gnawed at him. (6.11.1969), Joseph died during his service and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Tiberias.
