Parting, Yuri
Ben Leah and Piotr. He was born on the 29th of Adar 5719 (April 8, 1959) in the Soviet Union. He began his elementary studies in his hometown and continued with the generalistic humanistic trend in high school. One year he studied welding. In 1977-1979 he served in the Soviet Army. Yuri married, raised a family and in 1989 immigrated to Israel with his wife and daughter. At the beginning of his career he studied at the Hebrew Ulpan and worked for a variety of jobs. At the end of January 1992, Yuri was drafted into compulsory military service in the Israel Defense Forces, starting with basic training for new immigrants, and his military objective was the Armored Corps, and his commanders testified that while he was a novice, he fulfilled his duties in a responsible and responsible manner. On February 14, 1992, terrorists broke into an IDF training camp near Gilad, and Yuri, who was stationed on guard duty, fell in battle. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Holon. Survived by a pregnant woman, daughter Karin, parents, and brother – Sergei. He was thirty-three years old when he fell. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the commander of the unit wrote: “Yuri was willing to invest in any mission, despite all the difficulties he faced.” A letter of condolence signed by the Minister of Defense was transferred to the bereaved family. The Jewish student organization in Rome planted a tree in his memory.
