Paritsky, Zerach

Son of Esther and Yosef. Zerach was born in Jerusalem on July 1, 2626. He is the son of pious parents born in Jerusalem and brother of Avraham.
Between Zerach’s birth and Avraham’s birth, less than a year passed and the two grew up together in Jerusalem and attended the same class. They received their early education in Yiddish, and from there were transferred by their father to the Tachkemoni elementary school. From an early age, the two went out to work in parallel with their studies, in order to help the economy of the house. As a teenager, Zerach joined the British police, while his brother Avraham was active in defense from the beginning of the riots in 1947, when the War of Independence broke out. After the establishment of the State of Israel, Zerach joined the Israel Police and served as a policeman in Jerusalem. On May 20, 1948, Zerah’s brother, Private Avraham Paritzky, was killed while in the headquarters room in Sanhedria. He was hit in the head by shrapnel from a shell that pierced his steel plate. Police officer Zerach Paritzky fell during his service in Jerusalem on 25 Tevet, January 26, 1949, eight months after the fall of his younger brother. Zerach was twenty-two years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Sheikh Bader, Jerusalem. Survived by parents. Zerach is commemorated in the memorial room for the fallen of the Jerusalem District Police Station at the Russian Compound, and at the police memorial in Kiryat Ata.
