Ozerovitz, Shmuel


He was born in Akko on July 22, 1956. He studied at the “Tomer” elementary school in the city, and later completed his studies at the Naval Officers’ School, The 23rd of Yordei Hasira in Acre. Shmuel was a diligent student and excelled in all subjects. In his school, he took part in the Israel Land Department and went on numerous trips and trips. He loved music and studied accordion. He was conscientious, a responsible and serious man in his approach to life, honest and fair. He had spent a great deal of time and effort in caring for his sick father, working and earning so as not to be a burden to his parents. His dedication and precision enabled him to succeed in everything he did. Shmuel was tall and healthy, with great willpower and great tolerance. During his studies, he began sailing on cargo ships abroad. After completing his studies, he embarked on two more voyages to the United States in the time that remained until his induction into the IDF, and was drafted into the IDF in March 1975 and volunteered for the Navy. He was a disciplined, responsible and dedicated soldier. On March 30, 1975, only two weeks after his enlistment, Shmuel fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Nahariya. His sick father, who did not have the strength to continue after the fall of his son, also passed away, seven months later. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Your beloved son fulfilled his duty with great devotion and showed a desire to serve his homeland.”
