Ozeri, Shaked

Ozeri, Shaked

The youngest son of Shoshana and Yosef, a brother to the Sea of Galilee, Eyal and Drora-Dolly. He was a good boy, quite naughty, very frantic – all the time in movement and action: “Speedy boy”, that’s how she describes it. His mother, who was a very warm and hearty person who never stopped kissing and kissing his family, bought almonds in Elyachin, first in the local kindergartens, and then at the Rambam State Religious School, where he studied in grades 1 through 8 ‘. In 1989, at the age of fourteen, Shaked moved to the experimental agricultural village of Kaduri in the Lower Galilee, where he studied high school. He was very fond of all the residents of the village – the teachers, the students and the educational staff at the boarding school. He was very successful in his studies and showed special skills in sports: Shaked excelled in high jumps, short runs, and a lot of jogging. The flexibility of his body and the lightness of his movement also manifested itself in the dance floor, where he performed dancing in the style of “Breakdance”. But beyond his light side, Shaked was a very serious guy, very honest and decent, focused and decisive. “When he wanted something, nothing stopped him,” his mother says. “He would set a goal and achieve the goal, and never circle corners.” Shaked, who had a tremendous charisma, swept everyone around him. In fact, he was the social focus, and on his bed and in his room the many friends and companies that surrounded him were regularly present. At home, in Elyachin, the teacher prepared the shelter, turned it into a living unit, and there he built his world. There he used to listen to music, which was one of his great lovers – Shaked listened to all the musical styles, and himself played the organ. With his friends at Kadouri, even established a band that was praised. He was particularly fond of the world of motorized vehicles, and was particularly interested in prestigious cars, “equal,” as he called them. He had an ATV, and Shaked took full advantage of his ability to use it without fear or fear. But his father was troubled by the dangerous hobby, and after a while, out of concern for his safety, he decided to buy a car for him to replace the tractor. At the end of his sophomore year, in light of his academic successes and the high achievements he had achieved, he was offered to continue to the thirteenth grade as a student. Shaked responded to the challenge, went to the Technological College in the village of Sitrin and studied for one year studying car technicians. To his chagrin, due to his training and professional experience, Shaked’s request to volunteer for a combat unit and serve as a fighter was rejected. Thus, when he joined the IDF on July 12, 1993, Shaked was assigned to the Ordnance Corps, and was assigned to an artillery battery in the “Thunder Battalion.” Shaked began his career as a mechanic and later became a technical sergeant, And under his command, an artillery team, during which Shaked participated in operational activities on the Lebanese border, in operational occupations in the Judea and Samaria region, and in training.shaked’s love for the army was absolute, and over the years only grew stronger: “He loved the army from day one, With Shaked, describing moments from the joint service in Lebanon: “We would reach the area, slice the battery for firing, and we, as an armament team, would also help the teams Fire and repairing tools that were faults occur. We would spend the free time relaxing, talking, telling stories, joking, and preparing our own meals. Here, Shaked took the initiative and assigned a job to every soldier, and if he saw a soldier doing nothing, he would say, ‘What, are you a wedding photographer? do something’. One would open tin cans, one would make a salad, and another would cook … “Another anecdote from the days of regular service illustrates the developed sense of humorShaked: “On August 25, 1996, near the Dead Sea, Shaked was already a technical sergeant, responsible for eight ‘armaments’, and commander of armored personnel carriers. We were in the area for a week and a half, but we were arranged with TV and cell phones. Here Shaked invented new concepts: Mount Cellcom and Motorola Mountain – he would send soldiers to look for better absorption in the hills, and it really worked … “Shaked’s friends also testify about the pride of the unit that was inherent in him, as well as the responsibility and care he felt In the summer of 1997, at the end of his regular service, Shaked decided to sign a permanent position and was transferred to serve in the Keren Battalion, and his mechanic was replaced by a mechanic in the “Avi” battery. But Shaked’s real dream was to be an officer. Moshe recalls: “I remember a series of education that we went through in Jerusalem in the spring of 1995. On one bus ride, when everyone was tired, he built an arrow of paper from a notebook and put it into the soldiers in their mouths when they were asleep, and everyone laughed. In armaments, and in the fact that he wanted to go to an officer’s course and examined the possibilities. ” During his service, Shaked sent dozens of letters to senior officers, requesting that he be allowed to leave for officers’ training. “For one and a half years he insisted on going to an officer’s course, wrote letters, wrote a letter to the commander of the unit, Was interviewed by commanders, and reiterated his willingness and willingness to command as an officer. ” Two weeks before his fall, Shaked was informed that his request had been accepted, and that he was about to embark on the next round of the Armament Officers Course. “It’s hard to describe his joy and the energy with which he began gathering professional material for the entrance examination,” says Lieutenant Colonel Ronen Ofek, and one of Shaked’s closest friends testified: “I recently saw him doing gymnastics during vacations. The maximum score in the officers’ training tests. ” After years of waiting, Shaked was happy and excited; His ambition was about to come true. Shoshana says, “After he was accepted to the course, Shaked told his father, ‘Dad, do not worry, if something happens to me, the army will look after you.’ His father hushed him and told him, ‘Do not talk nonsense.’ ” Shaked always loved life, but in the last two weeks of his life he was more preoccupied with his friends and friends than with Roni, his girlfriend for the last four years. “Always when the guys would hear that Shaked came from the army, they would huddle on the fence and wait for him,” Shoshana says. On the last holiday, during the Passover holiday, friends and friends always flocked to his home. “Today, in hindsight, when we think about the meeting,” Eyal said, “it was his farewell party from the family and friends. “He has spent his days fully,” Shoshana says sadly. Shaked fell in operational activity on the Lebanese border on the 4 th of April, 2000, when a missile hit his jeep. A day before his death, Shaked arrived at the Lebanese border and settled with his friends in the artillery battery at the Farag outpost near Kibbutz Misgav Am, where the force arrived to help demolish a post on Lebanese soil and establish The next morning, when Shaked left the jeep with his friend, the Hizbullah terrorists began firing Katyusha rockets at the outposts along the border, and one of the Katyushas hit the back of the jeep. His friend Amir, the driver of the jeep, was lightly wounded, and his father, Yosef, repeated the course of events: “It was Thursday. He got a fang, called me and said he would be earlyHer home, but before that they have a task to do. After the mission they went outside, got into the jeep, and waited for another friend to join them. There was fog and they were in a high place. The driver told me that Shaked told him, ‘I touch the sky,’ and it is symbolic that a few minutes later he was killed. He was a fighter and a real fighter. “Shaked, twenty-five years old, was the last IDF fallen on Lebanese soil during the first Lebanon war. His family did not even know that he was in Lebanon; Shaked did not say so, to prevent them from worrying. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Alechin, which opened when he fell. Members of the family, Public Security Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami, senior army officers, comrades in arms and hundreds of Eliachin residents came to accompany Shaked on his last trip. On his grave, the battalion commander eulogized him, enumerating Shaked’s good qualities, and told about his diligence, professionalism and responsibility. “It was clear to us that you would succeed as an officer,” he said. Gidi Hamami, head of the Elyachin Regional Council, expressed his hope in front of the open grave: “May the pleasant and gentle humility be a symbol of peace and the last of the fallen.” Marco Abarbanel, Shaked’s direct commander, sobbed: “He was the best, really God only takes the good ones.” After his fall, Shaked was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant. He left behind his parents, two sisters and a brother. On his gravestone, the words were engraved: “Your parents, your brother and your friends, loved you very much. In his letter of condolences to the family, Lt. Col. Ronen Ofek, commander of the unit, said: “Shaked was a symbol and an example to all of us at the level of professionalism he demonstrated, the dedication of young fighters and the desire to help and assist. The almonds blossom once a year, but Shaked is a rare breed, and throughout the year he blossoms, smiles, and sings on us from his own goodness … The family of fighters, against the officers and commanders of the Keren Battalion, extend a comforting and embracing hand to you, the painful family of Ozeri The loss of the most precious of all – a beloved and devoted son, an almond, we will preserve Shaked in our hearts Forever, be blessed. ” Not long before the fall of Shaked, Elyachin completed the placing of a memorial monument to the four fallen soldiers in the Israeli army, and now also includes the name of Shaked, nicknamed Elijah’s Prince. Moshe, a friend of Shaked who served with him in Battery B in the “Thunder” battalion during his regular army service, prepared a memorial album for the family, including photographs of Shaked from their period of service in 1995-1996, accompanied by explanations. “I met Shaked for the first time on a winter morning at the Tulip outpost at the foot of Mount Dov at the end of November 1994. The deputy commander of the embankment recognized us and said: ‘Here’s a new” spearman “who arrived last night. I tried to give him a pleasant feeling, especially a sense of security, and we served for almost two years together, in the mud in Lebanon, we handled the tools and we helped the teams. In the rain of August, in training on a level, in a volcanic eruption in Magdiya in November 1995, Operation ‘Anavi Z I saw him growing up and taking control of everyone very quickly, and everyone was his friends and appreciated him … Everything I write in this album will not be enough to tell who is Shaked, I want to tell you that he loved you very much, One and his private world … I felt a deep need to edit the album as a souvenir for you, his family, you did not always know where he was. ” Shaked, the “prince” of Elijah, as he was called in the moshav, was immortalized in the square that was built in his name in the settlement- “Shaked Square”, where the family, together with the local council Elihin and the Keren Battalion, erected a monument: On a stone platform, stands a medium-sized cannon with a white marble plaque in front of it, indicating that Shaked is the last to fall in the war Lebanon “(the first). Shaked was also immortalized by reading a street in his name, and in the permanent table in the Etz Chaim Synagogue, where, alongside a memorial candle, there is a dedication in his memory.
