Ozeri, Saadia (Didi)

Saadia (Didi), son of Turkia and Nachman Ozeri, was born on December 13, 1921 in the city of Alexandria, Egypt. In 1922, when he was one year old, the family immigrated to Israel. For six years Saadia served as a civilian officer at the police headquarters in Tel Aviv. He was cheerful, loved laughter and was liked by all he knew. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, Saadia was among the first to respond to the call to enlist in the service. He was assigned to serve in the IAF at the Ramat David base. On February 21, 1949, Saadia was killed when his car collided with a train near Bat Galim. His brother Nun was killed in the same accident. Saadia was buried in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. He left behind a wife, Mazal, and a daughter, Nava.
