Ovadia, Morris


Son of Eliyahu and Sa’ida. He was born in the city of Fez, Morocco in 1948. He attended the Alliance school in his hometown where he was a member of a youth movement and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1962 and joined the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement. – The Giora Yoseftal book in Migdal HaEmek Afterward he continued to study in high school, but studied there for only two years and could not anymore, he was very attracted to the sea and on a bright day, He studied at the Daughter of Galim boarding school for about six months as a cadet, and was drafted into the IDF in early 1966 and volunteered to serve in the navy. After the Six-Day War, Morris was transferred to Sharm-a-Sheikh. When the end of his service approached, his commanders urged him to sign for service in the permanent army. At first he refused, because he wanted to work in the Kinneret fishing with his friends from the Ginegar group, but finally agreed to join the permanent army and moved to Ashdod. He was loved by all the crew and his direct commander admired him. In early February 1970 he was wounded, and on 14 March 1970, he died of his wounds. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Migdal Ha’Emek.
