Ariel was killed in a battle in Lebanon on 11 December 1994, when he headed his platoon in a clash with terrorists in the region of Marjayoun, in which Ariel proved his courage by taking care of the soldiers who were in real danger. He was buried in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl, and his plans for his release – to travel the world and study at the university – were not fulfilled, Ariel left behind his parents and three brothers – Ronit, HughNathan and Hani. Many of the people Ariel influenced and left their mark.
