Ounano, Shimon

Son of Hanna and Jacob. He was born on March 8, 1958, in Kiryat Ata. The eldest son of his parents. He grew up in the Kiryat Binyamin neighborhood. He began his studies at the Sprinzak Elementary School and continued at the Rogozin High School in the real world, and was an enthusiastic chess enthusiast who won impressive achievements in regional competitions and, as part of his career, was a member of the ” Who joined Kibbutz Samar in the Arava, where he completed his high school studies in August 1976 and was drafted into the IDF. During his service he participated in Operation Litani. After his discharge from the IDF, he became religious and joined the Or Sameach yeshiva in Jerusalem, where he was called up to reserve duty in December 1987 as part of an artillery unit, during which he fell during his service on the 24th of Tevet 5748 (24.12.1987). He was laid to rest at the Hof Hacarmel military cemetery in Haifa. He was succeeded by his parents, two brothers – Herzl and Yosef and a sister – Rivka. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “We have not yet met him and we have already separated from a dear man.”
