Osterman, Werner (Shlomo)
Son of the girl and Alfred (Aharon). He was born on August 13, 1920, in the city of Baum, Germany. His father was a private banker and when the family moved to Hanover, the father was appointed as a court receiver. When the Nazis came to power, the family, which had a Zionist spirit, decided to immigrate to Eretz Israel. The difficult financial situation forced Werner to stop his studies and to go to odd jobs (mainly technical). During World War II, he enlisted in the British Army and volunteered for the Palestine Commando Commando unit, Commando 51, and was a member of the Betar youth movement during the bloody riots of 1936-1939, Which fought on the Egyptian-Libyan border and excelled in the battles for the liberation of Habash from the Italian occupation, and in the battles for the town of Gondar he was seriously injured and on the day of the 30th of Av, 5702 (August 23, 1941), he died of his wounds. Werner was laid to rest in the British military cemetery in Asmara, Eritrea. He left parents, brother and sister. His place of rest in Asmara, marking the location of the tomb of Hebrow plot.
