Osterman, Ahuva
Daughter of Moses. Was born in 1914 in Cairo, Egypt. Immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1932 and settled in Haifa. From her youth she was steeped in ideals and pioneering enthusiasm. She began working at the Carmel Forest Farm where she met her future husband, Leon, who had recently immigrated from Denmark. The two fell in love with each other and entered into marriage. After a while, Ahuva became pregnant. When she was about to give birth she was offered the opportunity to go to Tel Aviv to give birth to her child in a clean and orderly urban hospital, but she insisted that she give birth to her first son in the Carmel Forest. In the hospital on August 15, 1938, the couple, in a freight car, went from their estate to their home in the Carmel Forests. It was at the height of the events of 1938 and on the way the car, carrying eleven passengers, got on the ambush of a large Arab gang, and Leon was wounded in that encounter and died on the spot, five days later, on the 23rd of Av, 20.8.1938).
