Orlovsky, Sivan


Son of Rivka and Yossi, members of Kibbutz Revivim. Born on the 20th of Sivan 5724 (May 20, 1964) in Be’er Sheva, Sivan spent his childhood and youth in Kibbutz Revivim, where he attended elementary school, and then continued his studies at the Ma’aleh Habesor school in Kibbutz Magen. In the twelfth grade, Sivan presented a magnificent thesis on the subject – “Shivta – Urban Plan of a Desert City”. In this multi-page work he described and analyzed the ancient desert city, using various sources, maps and aerial photographs. Together with his studies and hobby, Sivan was a basketball player and took an active part in his school team. He also worked in the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement, not only as a trainee, but also as a guide – first in his kibbutz, At the movement’s branch in Holon. At the end of the training year he wrote: “When you come for guidance, and you invest and do things that need to be done, you get it back later.” At the beginning of November 1983, Sivan was drafted into the IDF and assigned to serve in the Armored Corps, where he was about to complete the tank commander course, and successfully completed the course of the tank commanders and passed all the training and tests on his way to be certified as a tank commander. In the framework of night training, he ended his short life on 24 June 1985. Sivan was laid to rest in the military section of the kibbutz cemetery in Revivim, leaving behind his parents, brother – Yaron and two sisters – Tirza and Raya.
