Orev (Crok), Emrod


Son of Alexander and Shulamit. He was born on March 31, 1937 in Tel Aviv. He studied at the Arlosoroff Education Center in Jerusalem and was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair movement from the age of 14. He completed his studies at Kibbutz Ma’abarot and then studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Amrued was drafted into the IDF in late August 1955 and volunteered to serve in the air force. After his discharge from the army, he would go to reserve duty whenever he was called. He served in the permanent army as a lieutenant in 1968-1969. In early November 1970 he was called up for reserve duty. On the 24th of Marcheshvan 5731 (November 23, 1970), he fell while carrying out his duties. He left a wife and two children. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. After his fall, the Israel Chess Federation announced a competition of chess problems in its name.
