Oren, Roi

Son of Bat Sheva and Gad. He was born on the 19th of Shevat 5743 (19.1.1983) in Moshav Udim, and as he grew older, his beauty became more pronounced, and he grew up in the kindergarten in Moshav Udim, and as a child, he was surrounded by friends. His parents remember very well how the children of the garden crowded around the locked gate, waiting for him to come in and embrace him. Roi was surrounded by love all of his life. Already in the 11th grade, he was attracted by the desire to reach the elite unit, and the fact that he chose the most difficult military route did not deter him. He wanted to enlist only for a naval commando. Roi began his service with the “Shayetet 13” in early August 2001. His friends tell that a few days before he was killed, on their way to the last action he said he felt that none of them would return. First Sergeant Roi Oren fell in an operational activity in the Nablus area on 10 Av, August 8, 2003. With his teammates, he went to the Askar refugee camp for an operation to capture Hamas engineer Khamis Abu Salem, who was involved in setting up explosives laboratories. The force surrounded the building where the terrorist was waiting and called him to leave, when one of the bullets hit Roy’s head and he was killed on the spot, and the fighters immediately responded with a “Lau” missile, which resulted in the detonation of the explosives laboratory and Abu Salem was killed.
