Oren, Beeri

Son of Pinchas and Hani. He was born on August 15, 1944 in Ashdot Yaakov. Barry graduated from the middle agricultural school at Beit Yerah. He was a member of the Ha – No’ar ha – Oved movement and belonged to the naval division of Ha – Po’el. He had a penchant for literature and wrote poetry. He was closed and debated with himself, and only a few were privileged to know the treasures of his sensitive soul, which were revealed in the lines of a poem and fragments of letters. He went on a training year in the city, as is customary in kibbutzim whose sons go on a year of service before enlisting in the army, where he worked in the movement or helped a young agriculture, and was trained in Givat Olga and even at a branch in Tel Aviv. He managed to take control of his turbulent temperament and began thinking about studying, going to a young kibbutz settlement, and establishing a family of his own. He had a Lev of gold and could not accept the pain of others. Tried to integrate into the agriculture and when he did not succeed, he left him, went to Tel Aviv and tried his luck there. At the outbreak of the Six-Day War, he was called back to the flag and the battle that took place in Jenin on the 27th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967), the second day of the battles, when he fell in front of four enemy snipers. His courageous fight was recommended for commendation. He was buried in the military cemetery in Afula and then transferred to eternal rest in the cemetery in Ashdot Yaakov. His name was immortalized in the book “Yad LaNovelim – Bnei Ashkelon” published by the municipality and “Kinnarot”, a bi-weekly published by the Jordan Valley Regional Council. The booklet, “Be Your Boy,” was published by Ashdot Ya’akov (Ichud). In the book “Bimkomim”, which was published by the Union of Kibbutzim and Kibbutzim in memory of the members of the European Union who fell in the battle, a list was presented about him and part of his estate. In “Gogli Esh”, Volume 4 is the school bag of the sons of the fallen soldiers of Israel, brought from his estate.
