Oren (Austran), Ehud


Son of Moshe and Miriam. He was born on 26.5.1926 in Kibbutz Ein Harod. Here he attended elementary school and graduated from high school. He was an active member of the Haganah in the years before the establishment of the state. When the War of Independence broke out, Ehud took part in the framework of the Fighting Forces, fought in the front lines of the Beit Shean Valley and Jenin, and at the beginning of 1950 was drafted into the IDF, which had recently been established and assigned first to the Armored Corps. Later in the service he was transferred to the Artillery Corps, and after completing a course in communications, he served in this corps as a liaison. In the reserve service, he completed two more advanced courses in the communications profession and was promoted to the rank of Corporal, and during his military service he was also sent to a miner’s course, and in early 1952 he completed compulsory military service. He took part in the Six-Day War in 1951. In 1951, Ehud changed his family name from Oran to Oran, and for a certain period left the kibbutz and worked in agriculture in Kfar Yehoshua, married and built his home on Kibbutz Mizra, To his friends in the kibbutz and to the work – yet he remained an introverted person, he found it difficult to establish ties with the company he lived in. On September 11, 1974, Ehud died during reserve duty, was brought to eternal rest in the land of Mizra, left behind a wife and three children, and was 48 when he died.
