Among the students and the Jewish community in Toulouse was one of the activists on Zionism, the Jewish National Fund, the Haganah, etc. After he wrote a thesis on “citrus growing in the Land of Israel” in the final exams, he was awarded the title of Agricultural Engineer and in 1929 he immigrated to Israel and settled in Hadera, where his parents lived, and since he was an expert in orchards he received orchards in the moshava. He immigrated to Israel and was active in the local Haganah. In 1936 he moved to Jerusalem after he married a wife and was appointed as an agricultural instructor in the Agricultural Mortgage Company of Israel, and despite his work in a semi-governmental company he continued his activities in the Haganah as Azaria.
