Orbuch, Aryeh-Yehuda (Liebel)

Son of Sheindel and Shimshon was born on the 28th of Heshvon, 29 November 1921 in Bandar, Bessarabia (under the rule of Romania, the city of Tigina). In September 1947 his family received permits to immigrate to Israel, and after their immigration Aryeh devoted himself to arranging his mother and sister (widow of a soldier who fell in battle in Russia) and her little daughter to find shelter for them. On May 6, 1948, a Golani force took control of the village of Arab a-Zabah near Beit Keshet, and blew up some of its houses. His unit was delayed and in the process the Arabs launched a counterattack. Many of the unit’s fighters fell in the harsh retreat. Aryeh was among the fallen on the 27th of Nissan 5708 (May 6, 1948) and was brought to rest in the kibbutz cemetery. Aryeh left a mother and sister.
