Orbach, Dr. Rudolph (Rudy)


Dr. Rudolph (Rudy) , son of Marta and Martin Orbach, was born on August 17, 1909, in Berlin, Germany, where he was admitted to the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Berlin. Dr. Rudolph immigrated to Israel on May 1, 1936 and worked as a doctor in Haifa and Tel Aviv, and was one of the doctors who had been assigned to the Haganah from the 1936 riots until the War of Independence. On the 8th of Iyar, May 17, 1948, while on duty in the Yona camp in Tel Aviv, Rudy was killed in the bombing of Egyptian planes and he was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak. He left behind a wife and and a 14 day old son.
