Orbach, Avraham-Yehuda (“Bami”)


Son of Chana and Ephraim Elimelech. He was born on the 15th of Marcheshvan 5702 (October 22, 1945) in Jerusalem. Raised and educated in a traditional home, is the home of his father, a professor at the Hebrew University. He completed his elementary and high school studies at the Maaleh School and then studied at the Hebrew University of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and received his B.Sc. Avraham-Yehuda belonged to the “Yavneh” student union and was a member of the Movement for Torah Judaism. Was a music lover and even interested in astronomy. In August 1963, he was drafted into the IDF and became a lieutenant, volunteering for a career army and his commanders allowed him to continue his studies towards a master’s degree in mathematics, and on 19 January 1968 he was put to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl In his letter of condolences to the family, wrote that, immediately after completing the course (at the Gunners School), he was offered the role of assistant research officer. “In this capacity he invested Mir Energy and time and played it brilliantly really. Nothing was too hard for him. In addition to his regular role, he held other positions under the guidance of his unit for combat – a unit with which he participated in the Six-Day War. In addition, he was discovered to be a scientist and field commander. He was convinced that his contribution was not enough yet and volunteered to continue his career in the career army. In “Nizkor”, a book published by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and its student union, edited by Yehuda Hahadazi, his history was presented.
