Omer, Ronen
Son of Haim and Yona. He was born on 28 June 1960 in the region, as a son of Yemenite-born parents who took part in the War of Independence and accompanied the birth pangs of the establishment of the State of Israel. Ronen had two sisters before and he was the beloved and spoiled child in the house. His place of residence in a semi-agricultural area brought him closer to nature, and soon he learned to identify and love every living thing and every plant he encountered. His dog was a true friend. But even more so was his warm and Lev attitude toward man. It was quiet and tortured, and Noam’s grace was on his smiling face. He was very polite and spoke a little. Ronen was able to gather around him friends and friends who were Simcha to come to his home and play with him. Ronen attended the Shiva elementary school in the area. He excelled in all subjects and was known for his quick grasp. He tended to the humane trend, read many books, expressed himself well in writing, and dealt extensively with the writing and editing of school brochures; However, he chose a vocational training program at the ORT school in Holon, where his field of specialization is mechanical, and completed four years of study at this institution with great success. He did not shy away from the physical work, and at an early age he worked during the seasons – a break in factories and even construction. Ronen was also an excellent athlete and won many medals and certificates of excellence in competitions in various sports. He took every opportunity to travel in Israel, and on every trip he did not forget to take his fishing equipment with him. They did not show interest in him, since he usually cast the fish back to the free sea, but stay in the fresh air and reduce the tension accompanying this sport. In October 1978, Ronen was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the Israel Air Force, taking into account his professional background and was sent to Haifa for a technical school for aircraft maintenance. He did basic training and was able to encourage and help his friends. “An exemplary soldier was Ronen,” his commander wrote, “a good student, disciplined, loving a friend, a social man and an example of his friends.” However, all this did not take more than three and a half months. Shevat 5739 (30.1.1979) fell during his service. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in Holon. Survived by his parents and two sisters. The parents of the parents set up a reading room for Ronen in the local library. They also published a memorial booklet called Ronen. The ORT vocational high school in Holon holds a competitive field race every year on the day Ronen falls.
