Oliel, Elisha


Elisha, Ben Esther (Vesta) and Rahamim, was born on February 21, 1953, in Sparo Morocco and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1955. Elisha was drafted into the IDF in mid-February 1972, and after basic training he was assigned to one of the armored divisions and served as a warehouse clerk. In the Yom Kippur War, Elisha served with the forces fighting the front lines. On the 11th of Tishrei 5734 (October 11, 1973) he was killed while the brigade workshop he was serving was bombed on the “Mars” axis. He was brought to eternal rest in the Haifa cemetery. He was survived by a father, a mother, three brothers and a sister. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal. His commander attests to him, who was a dedicated and devoted soldier to his comrades and commanders and fell with great courage. His parents donated a marble memorial plaque to his memory and set up a library in his honor; In the synagogue attached to the “Yavneh” school, a memorial plaque was erected with the names of the graduates of the school who fell in Israel’s wars; In addition, a corner was erected in his memory at the Golani youth club, where milestones are recorded in his life and the dedication of his friends; Once a year, during the intermediate days of Succot, the club holds a soccer tournament that bears the name of Elisha.
