Okon, Eran Haim
Ben Edna and Meir. He was born on November 3, 1972 in Tel Aviv, to Benjamin, Michael-Yitzhak and Maya. When Eran was five, the family moved to Petah Tikva. Eran attended the “Yad Labanim” elementary school in Petach Tikva and continued at Ben Gurion High School in the city. He was a member of the Scouts youth movement and later of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement. Eran liked to read literature and was attracted to painting and acting. Eran played his love for theater in high school when he played the role of “miser” in Moliere’s play, and received many compliments. Eran joined the IDF at the end of November 1990. He served in the Givati Brigade, where he underwent basic training, and after a few months was stationed at the Kirya and served as a man in charge of a group of soldiers and soldiers in the security system. After his discharge from the IDF, in 1993 he began studying at the Tel Aviv University preparatory course, and that summer he began his studies in the Political Science Department. He continued his studies until February 1996, when he decided to take a break from school. On the 31st of Nisan 5756 (31.3.1996) during reserve service, Eran fell during his service. He was twenty-four years old when he fell. He was brought to rest in the military section of the Segula cemetery in Petah Tikva. Survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, Chief of Staff Amnon Lipkin-Shahak wrote: “Eran, blessed memory, served as a security guard in the Home Front Command’s security battalion and was described by his commanders as a responsible, diligent and devoted soldier who performed his job to their full satisfaction.”
