Ohayon, Yehuda
Son of Yakut and Yaakov, he was born in 1953 in Rish, Morocco. In 1956, when Yehuda was three, his family moved from Morocco and immigrated to Israel, to their new home in Be’er Sheva. Yehuda completed his elementary studies at the Sinai School, and later decided to combine vocational studies with theoretical studies. He moved to the Amal school and studied electricity. He did well in his studies, and during his vacations from school he worked in his field of expertise so that he could finance his own needs and not be a burden to his parents. He was a devoted and loving family member. He used to spend his free time at home, with the family, and even helped at home as much as he could. Yehuda was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in 1972 and assigned to the Infantry in the Golani Brigade, and he was a good soldier who was loyal and dedicated to his job. He always spoke enthusiastically about his travels throughout the country. His comrades, fighters of the Golani Brigade, to fight in the Golan Heights, and many comrades fell in battle. After completing his regular service, Yehuda began to study and work in land measurements; he excelled in his work and achieved impressive achievements, and everyone recognized him as a dedicated worker with a strong sense of responsibility. When the Peace for Galilee War broke out, Yehuda did not receive a summons because he changed his place of residence. On his own initiative, he arrived at the unit’s offices, and then pursued his battalion into Lebanese territory in an effort to join his comrades in arms. On the 3rd of Tammuz 5742 (24.6.1982) Yehuda fell in his service and was buried in the military section of the Be’er Sheva cemetery, leaving behind his parents, six brothers and three sisters. To commemorate his name, Yehuda’s family donated a Torah scroll to the Beit El Synagogue in Be’er Sheva.
