Ohayon, Yaakov (Jacob)


Yaakov, son of Tamu and Avraham Ohayon, was born in 1930 in Morocco. During World War II, he served as an interpreter in the American army. When he was given the opportunity to immigrate to Israel, he arrived in Israel as a member of the Gahal, and enlisted in the IDF. He served in the Givati ​​Brigade and participated in many battles including Operation Yoav; the main breakthrough to the Negev. On the 16th of Tishrei (19.10.1948), Givati ​​forces attacked the Egyptian army in Hulikat. In that battle, Yaakov died of his wounds. He was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in the village of Warburg.
