Ohayon, Michael


Son of Meir and Saul. He was born on October 14, 1954 in Casablanca, Morocco. Immigrated to Israel with his family in 1963. Michael studied at the Herzl elementary school in Herzliya and continued his studies at the ORT vocational high school. He was a diligent student. He excelled in the subjects of the frames and the regrets. Alongside his studies, he also worked in sports, as part of the Maccabi sports association in Herzliya, and played soccer in the local youth team. Michael was an optimistic, cheerful, good-hearted fellow, distinguished by his integrity and known as a conscientious man. Was a devoted and loyal son to his parents and cared for his family. As a son of a large family, he made great efforts to help the family’s agriculture. At the same time, he worked hard to finish school in order to earn him a profession in life. Michael was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in November 1973. After completing basic training, he was assigned to an engineering unit, and Michael was a good soldier, responsible and dedicated to his job. His military service was sent to a squad commanders’ course and completed his training as an outstanding trainee. He was loved by his commanders and subordinates. On the 24th of Iyar 5735 (April 24, 1975) he fell in the line of duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. Michael’s family contributed to his memory a Torah scroll for the YA Sportsmen Synagogue in Shivin Shaviv in Herzliya, as well as Menorah to the Torah and Chaim synagogue in Herzliya.
