Ohayon, Haim
Haim, son of Simi and Meir, was born on 25.12.1950 in Mogador, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1957. He studied at the “Gederot” elementary school near Gedera and later graduated from the school Professional “Amal” in Be’er Sheva, in the field of mechanics. Haim was a diligent and industrious student, loved by his teachers and friends. He was a sports and music fan and loved to care for animals. From his childhood he had always wanted to drive a car, and the day he received his driver’s license was a holiday. He was a loyal son and devoted to his parents, disciplined and polite, gentle in his manner, modest and quiet. He was spoiled from his childhood, and it was evident even in his adulthood. He had the joy of life and was always ready to lend a helping hand to his friends. Haim was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early February 1968 and assigned to the Armored Corps, and after completing basic training, he completed a course for tank drivers, a position he was proud of and served as an example of his friends in his good temper. He was scheduled to marry his girlfriend in the summer of 1974. When the Yom Kippur War broke out Haim fought on the Sinai front and took part in the bravery battles against the Egyptians On October 8, 1973, In the “spider” area near the Firdan Bridge, opposite the bitter lake, his tank was hit directly and he was killed He was later found dead and buried in the Be’er Sheva cemetery, leaving behind his father, mother, brother and seven sisters.
