At school, he was a diligent student and liked his teachers and friends. One of his teachers said: “During his high school years, he was a serious and quiet guy, but behind these qualities was a sophisticated sense of humor. Rani was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in July 1967 and volunteered for the Israel Air Force, where he completed many courses, including a parachuting course, an advanced pilots’ course, and a flight instructor course. , Said the principal of his school, “with the humility that characterized him as a pilot, guided dozens of trainees and took part in combat operations.” After five years of service in the Israel Defense Forces, He returned to Moshav Avigdor, married his girlfriend Michal, studied in the framework of preparation for the Technion and was about to begin his academic studies at the Negev University. He wrote down his worldview and plans. “The thoughts of marriage,” he read, and he wrote: “Family – first to all … the relationship between me and my partner, a desire for home peace … self-improvement, existence, studies, work, what to do with will and perseverance. “Human values, a platform for life – a person, like a party, should have a platform in life … It is time to set defined goals.” But he did not succeed in fulfilling his dreams. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, he was called to his unit in the air force. About a week ago he participated in air battles in the southern front. On the 17th of Tishrei 5734 (October 13, 1973), his plane was hit by an antiaircraft missile and he was killed and brought to rest in the cemetery in the village of Warburg, leaving behind a wife, parents, brother and sister.
