Ofer, Eran Yosef
Ben Bracha and Reuven. He was born on the 27th of Adar 5733 (25.3.1973) in Afula. Eran attended the Jezreel Elementary School in Afula and the Ben-Gurion College of Education in the biological track. He was much involved in sports and his great love was riding a bike and a motorcycle. Eran strove to serve in the Sayeret Matkal commando unit, passing the long trail of tests, tests and interviews, as well as the special formation. In August 1991, Eran was recruited to compulsory military service in the IDF and began his combat career in the unit, where he was happy at his service and did not stop praising his commanders. Eran, 5752 (28.5.1992) Eran fell in the course of his mission, killing a member of the unit, Yaron Bar-Dor, and Eran and Yaron were promoted to the rank of Corporal . Eran was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Afula. Survived by his parents and two sisters – Oranit and Yael. “Eran was the salt of the earth,” said those who knew him, “those who do not settle for action, but serve as an example.” In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Eran was a good fighter and a good friend, and I was sure that if he were alive he would finish the course successfully.
