Oberlander, Shalom (Herbert)


Son of Fanny and Emil, was born on April 25, 1914, in Frankfurt by Main river in, Germany. In his hometown he completed his studies in a high school and worked in a framework. In 1936 he immigrated to Israel and joined the kibbutz. When his parents returned to Israel in 1938, he left the kibbutz and helped them establish a farm in Ramatayim. After a few years, he got married, moved to Kfar Shmaryahu and worked as a locksmith. All his years in Israel he was a member of the Haganah. During the War of Independence he completed a first aid course and fulfilled his duty as a medic in the medical service. He served in the Alexandroni Brigade. On the 6th of Tevet 5709 (7.1.1949), he fell near Ramat Hakovesh, on the 9th of Tammuz 5710 (22.6.1950) was transferred to eternal rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery.
