Nuri, Benjamin

Binyamin (Benny), son of-Tikva and Jalal, was born on October 18, 1952, in Kfar Saba. Benyamin was drafted into the IDF in early 1970 and asked to volunteer for the paratroopers, but for medical reasons he was assigned to the infantry brigade of the Golani Brigade. He was a responsible and dedicated soldier and loved his commanders and friends. During his few vacations and in his many letters, which he made sure to write home, he sought to calm his parents and hid from them the harsh and arduous training. He was awarded the Operational Service Award for his part in the operational activities. During the Yom Kippur War his unit participated in the battles against the Syrians in the Golan Heights. In a battle that took place on the 22nd of Tishrei 5740 (October 22, 1973) in the early hours of the morning on the slopes of Mount Hermon, Benjamin was injured in his hand and then in the head by the bullet of a Syrian sniper and was killed on the spot. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Ra’anana. He was survived by a father, a mother, two brothers and a sister. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
