Nuremberg, Yaakov-Meir


Son of-Esther-Bryna and Avraham-Ze’ev was born on the 23rd of Tishrai, October 18, 1908 in Bucharest, Romania. Yaakov-Meir immigrated to Eretz Israel in Iyar 1933. Yaakov-Meir was a member of the Hanoar Hazioni Movement and a member of the Haganah. From 1946 he volunteered for Magen David Adom and was active and dedicated to any public interest he had taken upon himself. At the outbreak of the War of Independence Yaakov-Meir joined the army and served in the “Kiryati” Brigade. On February 28, 1948, he was attached as a medic to a company that went into action in Salameh and fell while helping the wounded in the village on the 19 of Adar I, 29 February 1948. Only after negotiations did the Arabs return the bodies were taken to Mikvah Israel and brought to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
