Nudelman, Amichai


Amichai, son of Leah and Reuven, was born on September 18, 1948, in Tel Aviv. His name was given to him to mark the rebirth of the State of Israel and the struggle of the Jewish people for independence. Amichai was drafted into the IDF in early May 1966 and volunteered for the Armored Corps, where he was trained as a tank crew member and was sent to serve in the 7th Armored Brigade. He participated in the battles for the conquest of the Golan Heights and participated in operational activities in the Hermon region and in the battles of the War of Attrition in the Sinai. Due to an injury he was unable to participate in the Karameh raid, but came directly from the hospital to donate blood to his wounded comrades. At the beginning of May 1969, Ami was discharged from the regular service in the IDF, but after one year, at the end of June 1970, he enlisted for a year of service in the permanent army, and he successfully completed a sergeant course and served against the Armored Corps School. And was able to formulate a single spirit and lead his soldiers to carry out the tasks assigned to them, and he maintained strict order and discipline and maintained all the military ceremony, knowing that this would contribute to the improvement of the fighting level of the unit. He was called to serve as a battalion sergeant-sergeant and was called for periods of reserve duty, and after his second discharge he returned to work with a father The father, who until then worked for the Netivei Oil Company in Sinai, returned to set up the workshop, with Ami helping him, and he decided to set up his home with him.a few days before the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War, In the battles of the Yom Kippur War in which the unit participated in the battles of containment and infiltration against the Egyptians in the central sector of the Suez Canal, in which I was discovered as a commander who could take care of everything needed for fighting. On the 19th of Tishrei 5740 (October 19, 1973), Ami was injured in the shelling of our forces and killed. He was laid to rest at the Mount Herzl cemetery in Jerusalem. Survived by his parents, brother and sister. His nephew, who was born after his fall, bears his name. After his fall, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant.
