Novik, Asher-Reuven (Ashi)

Ben Pearl-Shilo and Izzy-Yitzhak, the younger brother of Lior and Tania and a big brother of Barak, was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 24, 1970. immigrated to Israel in 1977. When he enlisted in the IDF in 1988, he brought him into the sea and volunteered for the LATAM, an underwater combat unit of the navy. Because of a medical problem, Ashi was forced to leave the unit, but insisted on continuing to serve in a significant combat service and joined the “Yael” elite unit of the Engineering Corps. On Tuesday, 8 August 2006, Ashi entered Lebanon with his battalion. The force arrived at the village of Debel, settled in one of the houses and prepared for action. The next day, on the afternoon of the 9th of Av, 2006 (August 9, 2006), Hizbullah terrorists attacked the building where the force was located and the structure collapsed, and Ashi was killed when the first missile exploded.He was laid to rest in the cemetery in Ma’aleh Gamla, leaving a widow, a daughter and a mother and sister.
