Norzich, Vadim


Son of Anna and Isai. Born on the 6th of Sivan 5727 (6.7.1967) in Irkutsk, Russia. Brother to Michael and Tatiana. Vadim grew up and was educated in Russia. At the end of eight years of elementary school, he studied for two years in a school that cooks cooks. In 1985, after completing his studies, he enlisted in the Russian army and served for two years. In 1989 he joined the “Young Jews” organization that operated in the synagogue, and together with a group of members of the organization immigrated to Israel in April 1991. For about a year he lived in Rehovot, where he worked as a waiter and in the water department of the Tel Aviv municipality. Vadim moved to Netanya and worked for a living as a construction worker. In 1995 he moved to Or Akiva, where his parents lived, and worked as a truck driver. During his spare time, he liked to fish, and every Saturday he went out and went fishing at sea. On 5 October 2000, he married Irina, and the two planned to build a home in Israel. Only six days after their marriage, on 11 October 2000, Vadim was called up for reserve duty. On the following day, October 12, 2000, Corporal Vadim Norzitz and Chief of Staff Yossi Avrahami left for operational activity in Ramallah. The two men made their way to the reserve unit and entered Ramallah. They were taken by Palestinian policemen to the police station in the city, where they were killed in a horrific lynch, when a wild Palestinian mob burst into the police station and murdered them with terrible cruelty. He was thirty-three years old when he died. He was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the cemetery in Or Akiva. Survived by a pregnant wife, parents, brother and sister. After his death, his son, named after David, was born.
