Noel, Arnon
Son of Yitzhak and Aliza, members of the Degania Aleph group. He was born on the 16th of March 1927 in the group. He completed his studies at the Degania Aleph Elementary School, and then studied at the Beit Yerah School of Agriculture and completed his studies there. Until his enlistment in the IDF in April 1951, he worked as a member of the group, but his love for playing was devoted to music and he participated as a violinist in the Jordan Valley Symphony Orchestra, and during the War of Independence participated in the defense of a bridge to which the headquarters was sent. He belonged to the Air Force and on May 15, 1953, he fell in the line of duty (along with his friend David Abramson) and was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the cemetery in Degania Aleph. After his death he was promoted to lieutenant. A grove of Jerusalem Arnim was planted in memory of Arnon and his friend David. During the War of Independence, Arnon’s father fell in defense of Degania in a battle over a plant. Because Arnon loved sports, the local youth set up a playground for all kinds of sports activities and games called Arnon Field.
