Noah, Ephraim (Effi)


Son of Zippora and Shmuel, was born on the 22nd of Cheshvan 5762 (2/11/1961) in Herzliya. Effi attended the Brenner elementary school and the Herzliya Municipal High School. While in elementary school, he belonged to the Scouts movement. After that, he was active in the Fire Brigade and the Civil Guard in Herzliya. Effi loved music, and for one year he learned to drum in a music school. He was playing a guitar. Effie was a cheerful, kind fellow, dedicated to his family and friends. In February 1980, Effie joined the IDF and served in the Armored Corps, and after completing basic training, he took a few courses in tank skills, and in February 1981, Effie was promoted to sergeant in his capacity as commander of a tank crew. A unit of yeshiva students, and fulfilled his role with devotion and love, and in his character Effi served as a soldier and a friend, and was fond of his subordinates because of the calm atmosphere he felt around him. On November 17, 1981, Effi escaped to the aid of a jeep driver who was driving behind his jeep and was stuck at the border line in western Sinai, in the Jabel Livni area. He tied the stuck car to his car, dragged it, and as he towed he fell to the road and was killed. On his death, the commander of his unit wrote: “The manner of carrying out his mission is commendable and his image will accompany us.” He was 20 years old when he died. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Herzliya. Effi left behind his parents and brother.
