Noach, Oren Simcha

Oren Simcha, son of Chava Reichel and Yigal Noach, was born in 1992 in Kibbutz Ma’ale Gilboa. Everything he did was done quietly and with great humility. He loved the yeshiva and saw it as a home. His first choice was the naval commando unit because of his love for the water, but he joined the Golani reconnaissance unit and served as a combat soldier. In Operation Tzuk Eitan, in the beginning of the battle in the Saja’iya neighborhood on 22 Tamuz, July 20, 2014, nine soldiers from the reconnaissance unit of the 13th Battalion in the armored personnel carrier entered the area. The APC was stuck in one of the neighborhood streets as a result of a mechanical failure, and during the attempt to rescue it, it was attacked with antitank missiles. Oren fell in battle as a squad commander next to his soldiers. He was twenty-two when he fell. Oren was laid to rest in the cemetery in Hoshaya, in the Lower Galilee, where he lived. Survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister. On his tombstone, the family members engraved the verse: “A pure Lev, a righteous Lev, a love of people, full of joy.” (Psalm 119:11).
