Niv, Matityahu (Matti)


Son of Ruhama and Israel, was born on May 5, 1936 in Tel Aviv. Matityahu joined the IDF in early August 1954. After successfully completing an officer’s course, he decided to tie his fate in the IDF and volunteered for a career army. He served a wide range of roles and they all filled successfully and efficiently. Among other things, he was the military adjutant of Defense Minister Moshe Dayan and the officer of the Northern Command, from where he moved to the General Staff, to a third of his position, and when he was appointed, he was appointed to head it. When he was one of the best officers of the Israel Defense Forces, he was a dedicated and diligent officer, who saw the army as an important part of his life and devoted almost all of his time to service, always striving for perfection, which he demanded of himself and others. , To instill and train it in the field units, and the results were evident in the IDF in Operation Peace for the Galilee. After his son fell during his military service, Matti left as a military attache for manpower affairs to Iran. From there he moved to Britain and was responsible for manpower affairs and coordinated the entire reserve system in Europe. Upon completing his term in England he returned to Israel. On the 10th of Iyar 5742 (10.5.1982), Brigadier General Matityahu fell during his service and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left a wife and daughter.
