Nissimov, Yair


Son of Hillel and Tamar, was born on December 15, 1933 in Rishon LeZion to a third generation in Israel. He studied at Haviv School in Rishon Letzion. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth group and also served in the Gadna, and before he joined the IDF, he worked in agriculture on a tractor and a combine. This is how a professional driver began, and he will use it in his service in the army and in his civilian life as well. He followed in the footsteps of his father, who was a driver at the winery’s winery association. Yair volunteered for the Nahal Brigade and advanced to regular army service, served in various units, took courses, such as a course for car officials and a battalion commander’s course, and rose to the rank of corporal. Yair was a regular sergeant for active reserve duty and was promoted to the rank of sergeant and took part in the Sinai Campaign during the Six-Day War, He married Angela, and he had two twin sons and then a daughter and a son to strengthen the house he had built and bought a car. Two years later, he sold the car, joined the Egged cooperative and relocated the family’s residence to Lod, where Egged became known as one of the most courteous and polite drivers, and the passengers learned to respect him and respect him for his friendly attitude (24.12.1976) Yair fell during his service at the age of 43. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Rishon Letzion. Yair’s last commander wrote to the bereaved family: “In the sudden and shocking death of your father-in-law, Sergeant Yair Nissimov, one of our good and dedicated soldiers was lost to our unit and the IDF, , Voluntarily volunteered to help anyone and was known among his friends as someone who could be approached for help in any area. ” Yair’s wife commemorated his memory in a synagogue in Lod.
