Nissim, Gabriel (Gabi)
Was born in Ashdod on November 23, 1963. Gabi studied at the Uziel religious school and completed his studies at the vocational training center, both in Ashdod, as electricians, generators and electrical systems.Gaby was thin, “Gavriel was drafted into the IDF in early November 1981, and after basic training, which was completed with honors, he was posted to the Israel Defense Forces, Armored Corps. In the Corps he went through an artillery course and became an outstanding tank gunner. With the outbreak of the Peace for Galilee war, Gabi immigrated with his unit to Lebanon and took part in the war. On June 10, 1982, Gabriel fell in combat in Lebanon during the Peace for Galilee War and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Ashdod. He left behind his parents, four brothers and two sisters. In his letter, the defense minister said that Gabi “was a devoted soldier and liked all those who knew him,” while his commander said in his letter that “your son was accepted in his unit and Ehud his commanders and colleagues.
