Nissim, Ephraim


Son of Rivka and Shlomo, was born in April 1928 in Tel Aviv. At the outbreak of the War of Independence, he enlisted in the army, served in the Givati ​​Brigade, excelled in courage and bravery. After fighting in the Jerusalem front (including participating in the Battle in Har Tuv) he went down with the brigade to the south. On the night of 19-20 October 1948, during the “Yoav” operation to break through to the Negev, his company attacked the Iraqi-Suweidan police. The force broke through two fences, but encountered another fence, when its progress was halted by heavy fire and it was forced to retreat. Ephraim fell in this battle on the 17th of Tishrei, 5709 (October 20, 1948). On the 8th of Cheshvan 5709 (November 10, 1948) he was laid to rest in the military cemetery in the village of Warburg.
