Nissenbaum, Reuven

Son of Malka and Yitzhak, was born in 1906 in Lodz, Poland. After graduating from elementary school he studied frameworks. Reuven immigrated to Israel in 1924, settled in Tel Aviv and worked in his profession. Was an old friend and commander of the Haganah. Served as a model for his friends in his dedication and precision. He responded to the call at all times, made sure of order and punctuality in the service, but also understood the situation of his subordinates and tried to make things as easy as possible. In difficult operations, his presence made his subordinates confident and steadfast. He did not ask for leniency, and although he already had three children, he served in the Kiryati Brigade and carried the responsibility for protecting the city as a commander in the Hatikva neighborhood on March 12, 1948. Before his departure, While he was working, and after the doctor removed the iron shrapnel from his eye, his wife Zippora asked him to rest at home that day, but he refused and replied that if he did not go and would not, the fate of the Jews in Warsaw would be the same. He was laid to rest at the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery.
