Nisanov, Xenia


Daughter of Tamara and God. She was born on October 29, 1977, in the USSR. Xenia began her studies in her native country. When she was fourteen, her family immigrated to Israel and settled in Acre. Xenia attended the ulpan and continued in the junior high school of the “ORT” school in Acre. In the middle of March 1996, Xenia enlisted in the IDF and was assigned to serve as a combat soldier in the “Ben Ami” camp, and within a short time she had acclimatized to the military framework and displayed great initiative in carrying out the tasks imposed on her. On August 16, 1996, Xenia was killed during her service in a road accident. She was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Nahariya. She left behind her parents, two brothers – Nisson and Ramil and two sisters – Erezu and Liza. After her death, she found a notebook of poems written by Xenia, in which she described her friends and herself. At her funeral, the representative of the unit in which she sang one of the songs read.
