Son of Sima and Ephraim., Nir was born on 26 February 1976 in Petah Tikva. A cute and sensitive child who loved his sister Tali, who was three years older than him, was friendly and loved to help his friends. After a period, due to the reduction of the unit, his unit was transferred to serve in Lebanon. Nir was among the founders of the new “Egoz” reconnaissance unit. He served as a machine gunner, a position he filled with all devotion and seriousness. It was important for him to go with his team and other teams to Lebanon to protect the residents of the north. His commanders described him as a model soldier who stood out in his cleverness, the peace of mind, and the calm that radiated around him. Nir never complained about his service in the IDF, he loved his role and his friends in the unit, he was ready to go out to the field every time he was called, and he never evaded his army service, and he participated in Operation Grapes of Wrath on 15 Tevet 5757 24.12.1996) Nir went with his friends to an operational activity in Lebanon, and on the way back to Israel, the commander deviated from the planned route without reporting it and without receiving permission. Serious command errors stemming from the mistaken discretion of the commander of the force, Sergeant Nir and his colleague Captain Yossi Levi were killed. Nir was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Petah Tikva. He was twenty years old when he fell. Survived by his parents and sister.
