Nir, Amos


Amos, son of Chana and Shmuel, was born in Haifa on April 13, 1951. During the Yom Kippur War he served as an armored corps in the braking battles that took place in Sinai. In the battles that took place in the city of Suez on October 24, 1973, his unit encountered an Egyptian commando force and Amos fell in battle. He was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the Kiryat Shaul cemetery. He was survived by a father, mother and brother. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, Defense Minister Moshe Dayan wrote: “Amos was an excellent soldier and a model friend”.
