Nigella, Fassil


The son of a vulture and a fugitive. Passil was born in Ethiopia on January 1, 1976. A third child to his parents, the brother of Yishai, the feto, Rachel, Abraham, Elsa, Shimon and David. The sculptor also had three half brothers – Yitzhak, Yishai and Andalek. The family immigrated to Israel in July 1990 and settled in Ashkelon. At the end of his studies, Fassil joined the IDF and served in the Logistics Corps, and after his release, Fassil married Chana, and the couple lived in Ashkelon with their son Naylak, who was born in 2008. Sergeant Fassil fell during his service on the 16th of Shvat 5772 (16.2.2012) Two and a half weeks after he began reserve service, he was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Ashkelon, where he lost his wife, son and daughter, mother, seven brothers and three sisters. On his gravestone, the family wrote in Hebrew and Amharic: “We will always remember you. Hani, Manilak and Raz. “
